Attica: An attractive, year-round destination
Cosmopolitan islands and World Heritage sites, first class hotels and warm hospitality, quality entertainment and unique cuisine for all tastes - all a stone’s throw from the capital. These are but some of Attica’s attractions in 2021, which is evolving into one of Greece’s most popular destinations for travel.
In the last two years, and given the conditions of a global pandemic, the new administration of the Attica Region under George Patoulis has implemented a comprehensive plan for the development of tourism. Through investments in the region’s assets, and in combination with important projects in infrastructure, the aim is for Attica to emerge as a top destination for world travel, with emphasis on certain themes: culture, health, gastronomy, vinitourism, and others.
For those who choose to vacation in Attica, we propose the following ten destinations, all of them ‘gems’:
1. Salamina, Poros and Spetses - just a few minutes from Athens, the three Saronic islands are ideal for quiet holidays: organised beaches, good food and historical sites.
2. Hydra - a cosmopolitan island with a long naval history awaits you with beautiful, blue water and unprecedented culinary experiences.
3. Kythira - on the southern tip of the Region, between the Aegean and Ionian Seas, the beautiful island of Aphrodite awaits with picturesque churches and traditional villages.
