Α Dance of Light
Hidden away in the north of Zakynthos, in Agios Nikolaos, is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Discovered in 1897, this network of caves is known simply as ‘Blue‘. However, the enchanting dance of colours reflected from the water and cavern walls –this palette of paradise– is deserving of a more worthy title – no small task for these natural wonders. Fortunately for you, there are several ways in which to explore the Blue Caves. Anyone can snap photos from the bow of a boat, but we recommend a more intimate approach. In a sea kayak or canoe, you can explore passages that no boat can access. Depending on the time of day, each new cave you explore puts on its own show of lights, and you can literally lose yourself in this sea of colours. Take the opportunity to slip into the water with a mask and snorkel. You can thank me profusely, later.
